In honor of women in the military, Mae has a story about the history of female roles in the military.
The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard in Washington D.C. is hosting a two-day event, March 8 and 9, honoring women in service . It's being called the "Women in the Military Heritage Project"
They are burying a WWII (WASP) pilot, Jackie Cochran who was previously denied burial at Arlington National Ceremony. The ceremony will be performed by all an female burial team, for the first time in history.
Also, local U.S. Air Force Honor Guard, Liz Byer, will be honored and will be giving a speech. She was the first woman to serve in the National Honor Guard in 1976.
